Recreation and National Night Out cancelled; Flood Watch and Thunderstorm Watch issued
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a severe Thunderstorm Watch for Hoboken until 11 p.m. A Flood Watch is also in effect until tomorrow, Aug. 7, at 12 p.m. Rainfall rates of up to 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible. Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible, especially in flood-prone and low-lying areas, and during tonight’s high tide which is at approximately 10:50 p.m.
Avoid Flood Prone Areas
The Hoboken Office of Emergency Mangement (OEM) reminds residents to avoid flood-prone areas. Intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas.
Barricades have been deployed near flood-prone intersections. Do not walk or drive around barricades or through flooded areas.

Additional City events & programs cancelled; Street cleaning to occur as scheduled
In addition to Summer Fun programming cancellations throughout the week, the Hoboken Police Department has cancelled National Night Out tonight.
Recreation programming, including baseball and football, has been cancelled.
Street cleaning and waste collection will occur as scheduled.
Discounted garage parking offered
As a reminder, the City offers an overnight rate in municipal garages for residents at $5 from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. This rate is offered for residents with a valid Resident On-Street Parking Permit or Temporary Parking Permit in Garages B (28 Second St.), D (215 Hudson St.), and Midtown (371 Fourth St.)
Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Garage space is limited and typically fills quickly during storm events. Regular rates are in effect at all other times.

Residents are encouraged to limit or avoid travel during periods of heavy rainfall, if possible.
