- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd (C- FELONY)
- Reckless Endangerment 1st ( D- FELONY)
ARRAIGNMENT/BAIL STATUS: The male was arraigned in Montgomery County Youth Part Court in front of Family Court Judge Michael G. Dayian and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.
INCIDENT NARRATIVE: On June 22nd 2024 at approximately 10pm Amsterdam Police received a call reporting shots fired in the area of Lincoln Avenue. Amsterdam Patrol Officers responded to the area and located evidence on scene confirming the initial report of shots fired. A detective was then requested to the scene to assist in processing the scene.
Through the use of surveillance and other evidence discovered throughout the investigation detectives were able to identify the suspect as a juvenile male formally of Amsterdam. The male was later located and arrested on July 19th and brought to Montgomery County Youth Part Court. At the time of the crime the suspect’s age qualified him to be considered a juvenile under NYS Raise the Age legislation and his name will not be released due to his age at the time of the crime.
The investigation is still active and ongoing and additional arrests are possible. There are no injuries or damage to property reported in this incident.
While there was probable cause for this arrest, all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
