* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 953 PM EDT, Gauge reports indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small stream flooding. Rapid river rises have already caused minor flooding in the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Nanuet, Pearl River, Westwood, Hillsdale, River Vale, Washington Township, Park Ridge, Montvale, Woodcliff Lake, Blauvelt, Bardonia, Ho-Ho-Kus, West Nyack and Saddle River. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become unstable and unsafe. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.
