Help Improve Water Quality in Our Community
Our local waterways are essential to our community, and we need your help to protect them. Here are the three leading sources of water quality impairment and how you can contribute to better stormwater management:
Sources of Water Quality Impairment:
- Rivers: Agriculture, municipal point sources, stream/habitat changes
- Lakes: Agriculture, municipal point sources, urban runoff
- Estuaries: Urban runoff, municipal point sources, agriculture
- Reduce fertilizer use on gardens and lawns.
- Properly dispose of used oil and grease. Clean up spills and do not hose them into the street.
- Pick up pet waste from your yard or when walking your dog.
- Wash your car on the lawn or at a car wash to prevent detergent water from entering storm drains.
- Keep litter, leaves, and debris out of street gutters and storm drains.
- Control soil erosion on your property by planting ground cover and stabilizing erosion-prone areas.
