INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Bear Valley Road / Quinnault Road, Apple Valley, CA
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at approximately 6:43 a.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station and rescue personnel from the Apple Valley Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle traffic collision. The collision occurred on Bear Valley Road east of Quinnault Road, in the town of Apple Valley. Through investigation, deputies determined a silver Toyota Camry was eastbound on Bear Valley Road, and a silver Hyundai Sante Fe was westbound on Bear Valley Road. The Toyota veered across the middle lane and into oncoming traffic lanes. The Hyundai attempted to avoid the collision and turned into the number two lane. The Toyota continued across the lane and crashed head on into the Hyundai.
The driver of the Toyota sustained major injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were air lifted to a trauma hospital with major injuries. Drugs or alcohol were determined not to be a factor in this crash. Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) arrived and are investigating. Bear Valley Road between Navajo Road and Central Road was closed for about 5 hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence.
