Traffic Stop Ends in the Arrest of a Yucca Valley Man After He Leads Deputies on Pursuit

SUSPECT(S): Sean Richard Sirr, 33-year-old resident of Yucca Valley
VICTIM(S): People of the State of California
SUMMARY: On Monday, August 5, 2024, at approximately 9:02 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff's Station attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a pickup truck for California Vehicle Code violations.
The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Sean Richard Sirr, failed to yield and led deputies on a high speed, 6.53-mile-long pursuit. During the pursuit, Sirr refused to let the female passenger out of the vehicle. Sirr committed several other violations, such as reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, and running several stop signs. Sirr lost control of his vehicle and collided with a fence at the intersection of Linda Lee Drive and Oleander Drive. With the help of Sheriff's Aviation and a Sheriff's Department canine, Sirr was located inside a nearby residence, hiding from law enforcement. Sirr was taken into custody without further incident.
Sirr had an outstanding felony-no bail warrant for his arrest. Sirr was arrested and booked on several felony charges, including California Vehicle Code 2800.2 - Felony Evading, California Vehicle Code 2800.4 - Evading by Driving in Oppossing Lanes, Penal Code 236 - False Imprisonment, and Penal Code 207 - Kidnapping.
