The suspect vehicle was found shortly after 5 PM, leading to the arrest of 40-year-old Marcus Hopkins, a North Hollywood resident, on charges of attempted kidnapping. We appreciate the vigilance and assistance of Simi Valley residents in bringing this case to a close.

***ORIGINAL MESSAGE***
On August 8, 2024, just after 2 PM, the reporting party (R/P) and her 17-year-old daughter were in the parking lot of the Simi Valley Library, heading back to their vehicle, when they were approached by an unidentified dark-complected black male adult in his 40s with dreadlocks. The suspect grabbed the daughter by her wrist and arm, attempting to pull her into his vehicle while saying, "Get in my car." The victim screamed and managed to pull away, causing the suspect to lose his grip. The suspect then entered his vehicle, described as a silver Hyundai two-door coupe, with paper plates and noticeable traffic collision damage on the passenger side, and fled the parking lot southbound on Tapo Canyon Road. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle. However, they currently believe they have a possible identified suspect and are actively searching for him.
