Press Release Update: Fairfield Police Arrest Man Wanted in Fatal April Hit-and-Run I’m
Fairfield, CA — Fairfield Police Department’s Traffic Unit has arrested a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead earlier this year. 21-year-old Jaered Diago of Vacaville was arrested on Thursday, August 8, following several months of investigation.
On April 23, 2024, at around 1:00 am, Fairfield Police officers responded to the scene of a fatal traffic crash at Air Base Parkway and Wiley Lane. When they arrived, a female victim was lying in the roadway. It was determined the victim had been struck by a car, but no vehicles were in the area.
The Fairfield Police Department’s Traffic Unit was called to the scene and took over the incident as a fatal hit-and-run investigation. By the next day, April 24, officers had located the suspect vehicle at a residence in Vacaville and, over the next several months, collected enough evidence to obtain an arrest warrant for the driver.
On August 8, Vacaville resident Jaered Diago was arrested and transported to Solano County Jail.
We appreciate the hard work expended to bring the culprit to justice in this case. Great work, all!
