Flood Advisory until 04:45AM Friday

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of west central Virginia, including the following counties and independent city, Alleghany VA, Bath and City of Covington and southeast West Virginia, including the following county, Greenbrier.

* WHEN...Until 445 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and overflowing poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 141 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated moderate to heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 2.5 inches of rain have fallen since Thursday afternoon. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Big Run, Cedar Creek, Back Creek, Bens Run, Anthony Creek, Brushy Lick and Blue Spring Run. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Alleghany... Covington... Neola... Hot Springs... Jordan Mines... Natural Well... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding, including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4.
