Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a burglary following an investigation.
On August 8, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 2100 block of Linden Street, in reference to a burglary incident. Upon arrival, police located a 63-year-old female victim who had sustained serious injuries. The victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. The case was assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division.
Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rook identified 43-year-old Eric Beverly as a suspect. On the same date, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division observed Beverly in the 1100 block of Chestnut Street. Police made contact with Beverly, and took him into custody without incident.
Beverly has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Burglary (First Degree)
- Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
- Theft Under $1,500
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $210,200 cash-only bail.
