Gilroy police investigating fatal traffic collision 
One person was pronounced deceased after a collision between a motorcycle and a car early Thursday evening.
On August 8, 2024, at approximately 6:54 PM, Gilroy Police Department and Gilroy Fire Department personnel responded to reports of a collision between a motorcyclist and a car at Gavilan Court and Murray Avenue. Upon arrival, officers and firefighters found a motorcyclist lying in the roadway, suffering from life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the car involved in the crash were also injured. Despite lifesaving efforts to the motorcyclist by both officers and firefighters, the motorcyclist unfortunately succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin by the Coroner’s office.
The driver and passenger of the car were both taken to area hospitals with minor to major injuries. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined, and we are actively investigating this incident. If you witnessed the collision, please call Traffic Sgt.
