Flash Flood Warning until 02:00AM Saturday

FFWABQ The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... North Central Quay County in east central New Mexico... Eastern Harding County in northeastern New Mexico... East Central San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico... Southeastern Union County in northeastern New Mexico...

* Until 200 AM MDT.

* At 1103 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.75 and 1.75 inches of rain have fallen, and much of this area received heavy rainfall last night, making soils saturated and unable to absorb water. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Logan, Ute Lake State Park, Hayden and Rosebud.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HARDING, NM ... QUAY, NM ... SAN MIGUEL, NM ... UNION, NM

Instructions:

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Do not camp along streams and rivers. Remain alert when hiking in steep, narrow canyons. Know where you are relative to low spots and drainages.
