Monroe Township Volunteer Fire Company #1 will be celebrating their 75^th Anniversary today. The celebration will kick off with a fire truck parade from the Veteran’s Park on Avenue K to Thompson Park (Please see the attached map for the parade route). The main celebration will take place at Thompson Park beginning at 1:30 PM followed by fireworks at dusk. There will be games, food, and live bands (including the Nerds Band).


Parking / Traffic Information for the celebration in Thompson Park:

All the entrances to the park will be closed off, and everyone will be directed to park near the softball fields located off Fir Drive (off Perrineville Rd. between Schoolhouse Rd. and the Jamesburg border).

Shuttles will be available throughout the evening to transport everyone from the parking area near the softball fields down to the event at the lake in Thompson Park and back. Handicapped parking and transportation will also be available at the Fir Drive entrance to the Park.

At the conclusion of the fireworks, Perrineville Rd. will be shut down between Schoolhouse Rd. and Forsgate Dr. in Jamesburg to thru traffic until approximately 10:30 PM when the pedestrian traffic clears out. All the vehicles parked at the softball fields off Fir Drive will be able to exit the Park Southbound on Perrineville Rd. towards Schoolhouse Rd.

Avoid the area if possible; expect delays, and plan an alternate route.
