Bloomington Man Apprehended after Leading Deputies on Pursuit Which Ended in a Collision Near the 10 Freeway

LOCATION: San Bernardino Avenue and Commerce Drive, Unincorporated Fontana
SUSPECT: Nick Gomez, 20-year-old Resident of Bloomington
SUMMARY: On Sunday, August 11, 2024, a Fontana Station supervisor witnessed Nick Gomez, a 20-year-old resident of Bloomington, driving recklessly near the above intersection. When he attempted a traffic stop, Gomez failed to yield, and deputies pursued him. Gomez drove at high speeds, made unsafe turns, and drove through a red light, exhibiting a disregard for his own safety and that of others. The pursuit ended when Gomez struck a curb and a concrete barrier on the Cherry Avenue overpass of Interstate 10.
Gomez was safely arrested, and his passenger was detained. The passenger complained of pain, was treated by medical personnel, and released. It was later learned Gomez did not have a valid driver’s license. Gomez was not injured in the collision and was booked into West Valley Detention Center for felony evading.
