TRAFFIC ALERT | Century Avenue lane closures 8/13 - 8/23
The Public Works Department has informed us that beginning today, Tuesday, August 13, the City’s contractor will need to install new water main across Century Avenue at the Dewey Court intersection. This is part of the reconstruction of Lake Street and Dewey Court. To create a safe work zone while providing continued traffic movement, there will be two lanes for Century Avenue traffic in this area, with lane shifts planned as follow:
- Tuesday 8/13 - 8/14: Close both inside lanes of Century Avenue to remove median islands and place temporary pavement.
- Thursday 8/15 - 8/16: Drive on the south side of Century Avenue to create a work zone on the north side of Century Avenue. Northbound traffic on Allen Boulevard will be merged into one right-turn lane onto Century Avenue. Marina Drive access will be maintained to the east side of the work zone. Traffic will transition back to normal lanes east of Tomahawk Court.
- Monday 8/19 - 8/21: Drive on the north side of Century Avenue to create a work zone on the south side of Century Avenue. Northbound traffic on Allen Boulevard will be merged into one right-turn lane onto Century Avenue. Traffic will transition back to normal lanes east of Tomahawk Court.
- Thursday 8/22 - 8/23: Close both inside lanes of Century Avenue to remove temporary pavement and reconstruct median islands.
Instructions:
There may be longer than usual queues and delays at peak times, and this construction zone will require extra attention. Please remember to put down your phone, and to drive safely, courteously, and slowly through this area. It’s important that we get a new and reliable water pipe across this intersection, but it’s even more important that the work zone is safe for everyone.
