Free Covid Vaccine & Health Screenings Thursday
The Hoboken Health Division and Hudson Regional Health Commission are hosting a free pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic, as well as health screenings, on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Multi-Service Center, 124 Grand St.
Residents can receive updated Moderna or Pfizer vaccines against Covid-19. Alliance Community Healthcare will be on hand to provide free screenings for a variety of health issues including weight, glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, and COVID-19.
Screenings are on a walk-in, first come/first served, basis and no appointments are necessary. Vaccination appointments are encouraged, but not required, and can be made at: www.hudsoncountyvax.org.
Opioid Awareness Event
The City of Hoboken, the Hoboken Health Division, and the Hoboken Office of Constituent Services are co-sponsoring an Opioid Awareness Event with Partners in Prevention on Friday, Aug. 16, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the community room of Monroe Gardens, 221 Jackson St.
The event will feature a presentation on opioids, Narcan training, a resource fair, food, non-alcoholic beverages, and giveaways. A medication drop box, manned by Hoboken Police Officers, will also be available for residents who want to safely dispose of expired or prescription drugs. Free ice cream will be offered to those who complete an opioid assessment survey.
The event is free and open to all. Registration is not required.
Rat Control and Mitigation Community Education Session
The City of Hoboken, the Hoboken Health Division, and the Hoboken Office of Constituent Services are hosting a Community Education Session on Rat Control and Mitigation on Aug. 26, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Multi-Service Center, 124 Grand St.
Experts in the field will be on hand to discuss a variety of topics including the rodent lifecycle and ecosystem, how to seal burrows on private property, prevention strategies including containerization, updates on City mitigation efforts, regulatory codes and enforcement, and more.

Learn about depression and social isolation in older adults
Social Workers with the Hoboken Office of Constituent Services will be participating in a seminar on depression and social isolation in older adults on Aug. 22 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Adam Gardens, 220 Adams St.
Participants will learn about the warning signs and risk factors of depression, the roles of social isolation and loneliness, how depression impacts minorities, steps to prevent depression, treatment options, and more.
The event is being presented by the City of Hoboken and the Act Now Foundation, and is funded in part by the Community Development Block Grants of Hoboken and the Hudson County Office on Aging.
