INCIDENT: PC 530.5 (e)- Mail Theft
LOCATION: 9000 Block of Sycamore Avenue, Montclair
SUSPECT(S): Robert Manuel Gamboa, Age 37, Resident of Montclair
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On May 8, 2024, at approximately 2:45 A.M., a witness saw a Hispanic male forcefully pry open the community mailbox at the 5000 block of Little Oak Court in Rancho Cucamonga. The witness provided a California license plate number to law enforcement. Four additional mail theft reports had been reported invloving the same suspect vehicle description in Rancho Cucamonga.
Through investigation, Detective Jones identified the suspect, Robert Gamboa, who had two active felony warrants: a federal arrest warrant and a felony arrest warrant issued by other agencies, both for identity theft.
On August 7, 2024, Detectives Ramirez and Jones conducted surveillance and located Gamboa in Riverside. Detectives also located stolen mail from Rancho Cucamonga and methamphetamine in Gamboa's vehicle.
Through investigation, Detective Jones determined Gamboa resided in Montclair in an apartment under another name. Jones authored a search warrant for the apartment and found thousands of stolen mail items including checks, bank statements and credit cards from Rancho Cucamonga residents and surrounding cities/counties.
Gamboa was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for his warrants with additional charges to follow.
