Narrative: | |||||
On 07/28/2024, at 2115 hours, deputies from the Ojai Patrol Station responded to the 300 block of El Roblar Avenue regarding a fight. Upon their arrival, deputies interviewed an adult male victim who advised he was pepper sprayed by Isaiah Avalos in an unprovoked attack. Avalos left the area on foot and was not located at that time. On 08/04/2024, at 1400 hours, two female juveniles were riding their electric bikes on the bike path near South Blanche Street towards Libbey Bowl. While on the bike path, Avalos stood in front of the females and sprayed them with pepper spray striking each in the arm. The females continued to ride away from Avalos while he remained on the bike path. Both females said the attack from Avalos was unprovoked. The females reported the crime the following day when they returned to school. On 08/05/2024, at 1935 hours, a juvenile male and female were riding on the same bike on Maricopa Highway near Nordhoff High School. While riding past Avalos, Avalos pushed the male and female while on the bike causing them to fall to the ground. The male and female both sustained minor injuries from the fall. The male’s bicycle sustained damage from being pushed by Avalos. The male victim recognized Avalos and knew he was a transient who stays in the Ojai area. Deputies located Avalos and placed him under arrest for various charges including PC 273a(a)-Willful cruelty to a child likely to produce harm, one count of PC 22810(g)(1)-Illegal use of pepper spray, one count of PC 594(b)(2)(a)-vandalism, and one count of PC 242- Battery. Avalos was transported to the Pre-Trial Detention Facility with bail set at $50,000. This investigation is on-going.
