Deputies Conduct Investigation and Arrest Three Men for Vandalism in Rancho Cucamonga and Possession of a Firearm



DATE/TIME: August 14, 2024 / 4:05 P.M. 

INCIDENT: PC 594(b)(1) - Vandalism 
PC 25850(c)(6) - Carrying Loaded Firearm
               
LOCATION: 7800 Block of Spruce Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT(S): Malik Etheridge, Age 29, Resident of San Bernardino
Saul Morales, Age 19, Resident of San Bernardino
John D. Christensen, Age 34, Resident of Rancho Cucamonga 

VICTIM(S): City of Rancho Cucamonga 


SUMMARY: 
During the month of August, the city of Rancho Cucamonga experienced a surge in graffiti vandalism at community parks. The unknown suspect(s) spray painted walls, restrooms, tables, and benches with the monikers “Slick,” “Smoke,” and “SPM".  The estimated cost to repair and paint over the damage exceeded $3,000. 

On August 14, 2024, deputies from Rancho Cucamonga Police Department's - Multiple Enforcement Team (MET), conducted extra patrols at Spruce Park. During the investigation, deputies stopped a vehicle occupied by Malik Etheridge and Saul Morales. Deputies located a loaded handgun and multiple spray paint cans in the vehicle. Deputies also contacted John Christensen at a local park. They confirmed he was also responsible for the graffiti vandalism. 

Deputies served a search warrant at a residence in San Bernardino and recovered a high-capacity firearm magazine, ammunition, additional spray paint cans, and other contraband linking the suspects to their crimes.  

All three suspects were arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center. Etheridge and Christensen were charged with PC594(b)(1) - Vandalism $400 or more. Morales was booked on PC25850(c)(6) - Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
