Narrative:
On August 13, 2024, at approximately 2030 hours, deputies from the Ojai Police Department conducted an enforcement stop on a vehicle at a gas station in the city of Ventura after having knowledge that the driver, (S) Bryan Torres, had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. While attempting to take Torres into custody, he resisted arrest.

Torres got into his vehicle and drove away while deputies were still trying to apprehend him. While Torres sped off, he dragged one of the deputies from his vehicle a distance through the gas station parking lot. The deputy was transported to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ventura Police Department responded to the scene and assumed control of the initial investigation.

On August 14, 2024, Detectives from multiple investigative units within the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office located Torres in the City of Oxnard, and he was arrested for PC 245(a)(4) (Assault with Deadly Weapon), PC 69(a) (Resisting an Executive Officer) and the outstanding Post Release Offender Status (PROS) felony warrant.

His bail is currently set at $10,000.00 and his arraignment is scheduled for August 16, 2024, at 1:30 PM, in Ventura County Superior Court, Room #13.

This is an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Ventura Police Department. Anyone who has information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Ventura Police Department Detective Stephanie Avila; 805-339-4478.
