ONE INJURED IN SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH 
Cass County Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on August 19, 2024 at approximately 1209 Hours, his Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash on M51 Hwy and Thompson Rd. Pokagon Township, Cass County, Michigan.
The investigation showed that a vehicle driven by Joshua Jessup (26 years old of Dowagiac, MI) was traveling Northbound on M51 when he lost control of his vehicle causing him to cross the center line of the road and drove into a cornfield. Joshua was transported by SMCAS Ambulance to Niles Lakeland Hospital for his injuries. Joshua was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
Assisting agencies on scene were Pokagon Township Fire Department, Niles Volunteer Firefighters and SMCAS Ambulance.
The crash remains under investigation.
