Deputy Responds to Disturbance Call and Discovers a Chop-Shop; Suspect Arrested

DATE/TIME: August 18, 2024 / 8:28 p.m.

INCIDENT: Possession of Stolen Property, Vehicle Theft, Owing a Chop Shop

LOCATION: 10600 block of Eleventh Avenue, Hesperia

SUSPECT(S): Stephanie Lee, 33-year-old, resident of Victorville
                        Adrian Delacruz, 31-year-old, resident of Hesperia


SUMMARY: On August 18, 2024, at approximately 8:28 p.m., Deputy Contreras with the Hesperia Police Department responded to the 10600 block of Eleventh Avenue in reference to a subject with a firearm. Deputy Contreas made contact with an involved party of the disturbance, whose stolen vehicle was believed to be in the rear of the residence. Deputy Contreras conducted a records check of the vehicle and confirmed the vehicle was stolen. During the investigation, Deputy Contreras located another victim and discovered his stolen vehicle was also in the rear of the residence. Deputy Contreas located additional stolen vehicles in the rear of the residence that were being stripped down. With the assistance of auto-theft investigators, Deputy Contreras was able to recover multiple stolen vehicles and confirmed the location was an active chop shop. 

The suspects, later identified as Stephanie Lee, 33-year-old resident of Victorville and Adrian Delacruz, 31-year-old resident of Hesperia, fled the location prior to Deputy Contreras' arrival. Lee was later located in a stolen vehicle and taken into custody. Lee was arrested and booked into High Desert Detention Center for PC 496d(a)- Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, VC10851-Vehicle Theft, VC10801- Owning a Chop Shop and PC666.5(a)- Vehicle Theft with Priors. Delacruz was later contacted and released on scene pending charges with the District Attorney’s Office.
