UPDATE: Market Street Improvements
On Monday 8/19, Boland’s began their work on Water St.
This involved barricading access at Chestnut St. to Water Street for a duration of 2 days for the removal of the curbing and asphalt south to north working east to west. The pavers at the furthest most end to the east were also removed. Pedestrian traffic remained open
during this work being completed. There was no available parking on Water St. during these activities.
When work was completed the jersey barriers were relocated from south to north, maintaining the necessary emergency vehicle access. There was no available parking on Water St. during these activities.
Work has proceeded on the south side of Water Street for the new upgrades to NYSEG power. Also, underground utilities, light pole bases for new street lighting, storm drain, curbs, sidewalks and landscape. There will be no available parking on Water St. during these activities.
When complete, barriers will remain as installed and work will begin on the north side of barriers. This work will include the removal of the remainder of the granite curb as well as all paver sidewalks, new underground conduit and light pole bases will be installed, new
granite curbs, concrete sidewalks and light poles will be installed Pedestrian access will be adjusted from the north side of the barrier to south and points will be established at fire escapes and businesses requiring access on Water St. There will be no available parking on Water St. during these activities.
When complete the barriers will be removed and access to Water St. will be closed. Pedestrian access will again be available at new sidewalks on the north side of street. At this time paving activities will being, this will include regrading of the road base and
adjustment of existing utilities, final finish grading and placement of new asphalt roadway, directional signage and striping of road surface. There will be no available parking on Water St. during these activities.
The total durations of these activities are estimated to be (60 working days) but will change due to weather or unforeseen conditions.
