UPDATE - TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Street Closures Announced for Newark’s Annual 24-Hours of Peace Festival
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé announces that the following streets will be closed during the below designated hours due to the City of Newark’s Annual 24-Hours of Peace festival:
Beginning from 5 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, to 10 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024
Central Avenue between South 11th Street and West Market Street
· South 10th Street between 11th Avenue and 9th Avenue
· South 9th Street between 11th Avenue and 9th Avenue
· South 8th Street between 11th Avenue and 9th Avenue
· South 7th Street between 11th Avenue and West Market Street
· 4th Street between Central Avenue and West Market Street
The festival, aimed at addressing violence through the performing arts, will be held at Central Avenue between West Market Street and South 10th Street. It begins at 5 p.m., Friday, August 23rd, and will end at 6 p.m., Saturday, August 24th.
Within the festival area:
Bicycles, scooters, e-scooters, etc. are not permitted
Backpacks, large and small bags, coolers, carriages, etc. may be subject to search
Alcohol is not permitted
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and to plan alternate routes.
Director Fragé thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding any criminal activity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
