On Friday, August 16, 2024, at approximately 6:56 AM, Pomona Police patrol officers responded to a female down in the 1300 block of W. Third St. in the City of Pomona. When officers and Los Angeles County Fire personnel arrived, they found 39-year-old Ollie Mason Jones of Pomona unresponsive in the bathtub, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Investigators from the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded to the scene to assume the investigation. During their extensive investigation, MCU investigators were able to identify 33-year-old Jamell Dlane Collier as being involved in the murder of Ollie Jones.
On Monday, August 19, Collier was located in the city of Los Angeles and taken into custody. Collier was booked at the Pomona City Jail and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed the following charge against Collier:
187 (a) PC – Murder
