INCIDENT: PC 664/187 – Attempted Homicide
LOCATION: 16100 block of Viho Road, Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): Joshua Edward Schilling, 53-year-old male of Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): 41-year-old female of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On Sunday, August 3, 2024, deputies with Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to a domestic disturbance. The victim, who had been assaulted for hours at a residence in Apple Valley, went to a relative’s home in Victorville, where emergency medical personnel were called to. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputy C. Hubbard investigated the incident and learned that the assault began on Friday evening and continued throughout the night into the next morning. Once the suspect had fallen asleep, the victim left the residence and sought help. A warrant was obtained for the arrest of the suspect, identified as Joshua Edward Schilling.
On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, deputies located the suspect and took him into custody. Schilling was booked into High Desert Detention Center for attempted murder and other charges, where he remains in custody.
On Thursday, August 8, 2024, the Victorville District Attorney’s Office filed charges of PC 206 – Torture, PC 273.5(a) – Corporal Injury to Spouse/Cohabitant, PC 136.1(b)(1) – Dissuading a Witness, PC 422(a) – Criminal Threats, PC 261(a)(2) – Forcible Rape and PC 148(a)(1) – Resist, Obstruct, Delay of Peace Officer.
