SLPD Makes Arrest in 7-Eleven Robbery and Shooting
On Thursday, August 22nd, 2024, San Leandro Police arrested a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery and shooting that took place in a 7-Eleven convenience store.
Around 5:15 a.m., August 21st, SLPD patrol officers responded to 7-Eleven, located at 525 Williams Street, after receiving a report of the store clerk being shot. Arriving officers found the victim suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. Surveillance footage from the store showed the suspect entering the business and accosting the victim at gunpoint. The suspect shot the victim once before fleeing from the store with stolen cash. The victim was medically transported to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.
Detectives were able to follow-up on leads to identify the suspect as 30-year-old Anthony Craft of Oakland and track him to the 1400 block of 105th Avenue. Craft was arrested on numerous charges to include attempt homicide, robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, along with an outstanding warrant for robbery.
This case will be presented to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
