Hit and Run Driver Identified and Arrested in Victorville



DATE/TIME: August 22, 2024

INCIDENT: Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Mesa View Drive and Olivine Road, Victorville

SUSPECT(S): David Anthony Campo, 42-years-old, resident of Victorville 

VICTIM(S): Deceased Male - Pending Next of Kin Notification


SUMMARY:

Based on evidence located at the scene, investigators determined the involved vehicle was a late-model blue Nissan 350z.  After establishing the make and model of the vehicle, investigators located and arrested 42-year-old, David Anthony Campo of Victorville. Campo was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for CVC 20001 (a) Felony Hit and Run.

On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at approximately 8:26 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Station, and rescue personnel from the Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response, responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash that occurred in the area of Mesa View Drive and Olivine Road, in the City of Victorville. 

Upon arrival, deputies determined that a royal blue vehicle drove south on Mesa View Road, north of the intersection with Olivine Road. The unknown vehicle struck a male pedestrian and fled the scene of the collision. The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was airlifted to the Loma Linda University Medical Center in critical condition. Despite life saving measures, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the Loma Linda University Medical Center. 

The Victorville Police Station Traffic Division responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the collision is under investigation. Mesa View Drive was closed between Olivine Road and Nyack Road for the duration of the scene investigation.
