Threats Against a Helendale Middle School Investigated After School Officials Made Aware of Social Media Posts

INCIDENT: PC 422: TERRORIST THREATS
LOCATION: Helendale Secondary School, 13943 Rivers Edge Road in Helendale
SUSPECT: Male juvenile, 13 years of age
SUMMARY: On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 1:24 p.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to a call at Helendale Secondary School in Helendale.
According to school staff, they became aware of a 13-year-old male student allegedly making threats towards students at the school on social media sites. Deputies were told there were guns in the background in some of the posts.
Deputy J. Munoz authored a search warrant for the juvenile’s residence. With the assistance of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Enforcement Division, deputies and detectives executed the search warrant on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m.
No weapons were located at the residence. Through the investigation, deputies learned the juvenile used photos pulled off the internet as a background for his posts. Deputies deemed there was no credible threat to students or school faculty.
