Update on Common Law Robbery from August 23, 2024

The person of interest that was being sought in relation to the Samir’s convenience store robbery that took place on August 23rd has been arrested. That individual has been identified as Anthony Brian Redd W/M 22 YOA of Marion. Redd was at location today in Henderson County when he decided to turn himself in. He contacted authorities by phone and Henderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to his location and took him into custody without incident. Redd has been charged with one count of Common Law Robbery and currently confined in the Henderson County Detention Center under a $12,500 secured bond.
In accordance with Friday’s press release, Redd entered the store Friday morning and asked the clerk for the money from the register. The clerk gave him a total of $115.00 from the register and he left the store walking. However, it is believed that he had a vehicle close by where he then drove away from the store.
The Marion Police Department would like to thank the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office for the assistance in the apprehension of Redd.
On August 23rd, 2024 at approximately 5:47AM the Marion Police Department responded to a Robbery at Samir’s Convenience Store #4 located at 1252 Rutherford Road in Marion. Preliminary investigation indicates that an unknown white male wearing a black hoodie and grey pants entered the store and approached the clerk that was behind the counter. The suspect told the clerk he would need all the money from the register. At that moment the clerk handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of currency from the register. The suspect then left the store leaving out the front door on foot walking south.
Marion Police Officers responded to the scene within minutes and began to canvass the immediate area looking for the suspect. Based on video surveillance from the scene a person of interest was developed. Our agency is working to locate this person currently however that person’s identity is not being revealed at this time. No weapons were used in this robbery.
