Borough of Highland Park to hold End of Summer Parkstock Festival, Thurs. August 29th, 6-8 pm
The Borough of Highland Park invites residents and visitors to gather for a music-filled, family-friendly, outdoorsy, End of Summer Parkstock Festival on Thursday August 29th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm., in the Main Field of Donaldson Park.
The Festival will include the final musical act of the Summer 2024 Parkstock Free Outdoor Music Concert Series, Cliff Westfall.
New York-based country songwriter Cliff Westfall writes songs about heartache, loss, addiction… you know, funny songs. Or he can turn on a dime and dive headlong into a sentimental weeper. The Kentucky native delivers with a mixture of wit and bravado that, for Westfall, is central to what country music is all about.
The songs on his album Baby You Win are bitingly acerbic, dependent on the twisty puns, bittersweet humor, and turns of phrase that used to define country music. Westfall’s a true son of Kentucky and an honest student of the genre, but refuses to be constrained by its definitions. This is Americana outside the box, made by an artist gleefully rifling through the dusty record bins of American roots music and converting them into something new.
The End of Summer Parkstock Festival will also feature a variety of food vendors, a bounce house, an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, and other features that encourage music fans to bring out their whole family for this celebration of the conclusion of the warm (and sometimes, way too warm) weather season.
Parkstock 2024 is a project of the Borough of Highland Park, NJ and is supported in part by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
