DETAILS: On this date at 3:49 AM, the WWPD Communications detailed Patrol Units to a Serious Motor Vehicle Crash on Lanwin Blvd. in the area of Providence Drive. Upon Patrol's arrival, they immediately began to render first aid to the occupants of Vehicle #1, a 2024 Tesla Model Y. Vehicle #1 had left the roadway and impacted a tree which caused significant intrusion into the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Both of the occupants were still entrapped inside of the vehicle and extrication efforts began immediately upon the arrival of West Windsor EMS and Fire units. Stations #43, #44, & #45 worked in unison to extract both occupants and to assist the injured parties. In addition, Robbinsville EMS #40, East Windsor EMS #142 and Capital Health Medics arrived on scene. Ultimately, the occupants were removed from Vehicle #1. Both, the driver and the front seat passenger sustained life threatening injuries and all life saving efforts were being employed. Both of the injured were transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for treatment. **No identities are being released at this time**
The initial investigation at the scene revealed the following; Vehicle #1 was traveling in the north bound lane of Lanwin Blvd. when for unknown reasons, left the roadway and impacted a tree just past the intersection of Providence Drive and came to its final resting place.
Lanwin Blvd. was closed for approximately (6) hours during the investigation. The Mercer County Prosecutor's Office Serious Collision Response Team (MCPO SCRT) responded to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation. ***UPDATE***
On Saturday, August 24, 2024 at approximately 8:51 am, the passenger of the vehicle involved in this motor vehicle collision, Daniel P. Haas, succumed to his injuries. Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the Haas family during this difficult time. The driver, whose name is not being released at this time, remains in serious condition.
This investigation is ongoing.
