The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, AUGUST 19, 2024:
 
7:07 AM Officer Kim was on routine patrol near Jarvis Avenue & Dumbarton Court and contacted a 49-year-old male in the area with an active warrant. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:44 AM Officer Orozco investigated a license plate theft near Jarvis Avenue & Dumbarton Court.
 
9:03 AM Officer Frentescu investigated two vehicle thefts near Sycamore Street & Carter Avenue. One vehicle was burglarized using the spare key and tools were taken.
 
9:19 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau recovered a stolen vehicle near Cedar Boulevard & Lafayette Avenue. He then investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar Boulevard & Central Avenue.
 
3:50 PM Officers investigated multiple window smash vehicle burglaries on Newpark Mall Road. Reported loss included electronics, power tools, and a backpack containing clothing.
 
6:49 PM Officer Swadener investigated a license plate theft near Sycamore Street & Carter Avenue, and a vehicle burglary at Newpark Mall. Reported loss included a backpack containing electronics.
 
TUESDAY, AUGUST 20, 2024:
 
7:01 AM Officer Berlanga conducted a welfare check near Birch Street & Central Avenue. A 43-year-old female was arrested for narcotics and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:23 AM Officer Pacheco investigated a vehicle burglary near Cedar Boulevard & Hydrangea Way.
 
9:08 AM Officer Lomeli investigated a commercial burglary near Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard.
 
10:25 AM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar Boulevard & Hydrangea Way.
 
6:48 PM Officer Dale investigated a window smash vehicle burglary near Cedar Boulevard & North Magazine Road. Reported loss included various tools.
 
9:25 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a window smash vehicle burglary near Cedar & Lido Boulevards. No loss was reported.
 
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 21, 2024:
 
6:41 AM Officer Medina investigated a vehicle theft near Elm Street & Thornton Avenue.
 
7:29 AM Officer C. Torres investigated a vehicle theft on Mayhews Landing Road.
 
9:22 AM Officer McCuin responded to a disturbance near Newark Boulevard & Thornton Avenue. A 38-year-old male was arrested for corporal injury.
 
10:17 AM Officers investigated multiple vehicle burglaries within the city. Reported losses included a cooler containing health supplements, and a bin containing residential mail.
 
4:40 PM CSO Lau investigated a license plate theft near Edgewater Drive & Norwich Place.
 
 
THURSDAY, AUGUST 22, 2024:
 
6:49 AM Officer Kim investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar Boulevard & Timber Street.
 
7:01 AM Officers investigated multiple window smash vehicle burglaries on Cedar Boulevard. Reported loss included a bag containing shoes and personal items, a traveler’s fridge, and a first aid kit.
 
8:03 AM Officer McCuin investigated a commercial burglary on Cedar Boulevard caused by forced entry.
 
10:37 AM CSO Lau recovered a stolen vehicle near Cherry Street & Redecker Place.
 
5:06 PM CSO Lau investigated a license plate theft near Olive Street & Dairy Avenue.
 
7:21 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar Boulevard & Cherry Street.
 
8:32 PM CSO Mora investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar Boulevard & North Magazine Road.
 
10:36 PM CSO Mora recovered a stolen vehicle near Braidburn Avenue & Spruce Street.
 
FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 2024:
 
9:20 AM Officer McCuin investigated a vehicle burglary near Newark Boulevard & Jarvis Avenue. No loss was reported.
 
10:04 AM Officer Herbert investigated a vehicle theft near Willow Street & Enterprise Drive.
 
10:18 AM Sergeant Fredstrom arrested a 37-year-old male for outstanding warrants near Cherry Street & Smith Avenue. He was released on scene with a citation.
 
SATURDAY, AUGUST 24, 2024:
 
2:28 AM Officer Lara arrested a 31-year-old male with an active warrant near Thornton Avenue & Cedar Boulevard. He was released on scene with a citation.
 
4:21 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a window smash vehicle burglary near Willow Street & Seawind Way. Reported loss included a phone charger, change, and a license plate.
 
7:57 AM Officers investigated multiple vehicle thefts within the city.
 
1:55 PM Officer Kim arrested a 45-year-old male near Cedar Boulevard & Mowry Avenue. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:14 PM CSO Mora investigated a vehicle theft near Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard.
 
9:30 PM Officer Williams recovered a stolen vehicle near Mowry Avenue & Cherry Street.
 
SUNDAY, AUGUST 25, 2024:
 
12:25 AM Officer Williams arrested a 27-year-old male for driving under the influence near Cherry Street & Thornton Avenue. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
5:35 AM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle theft near Jarvis Avenue & Gateway Boulevard.
 
8:34 AM Officers arrested a 34-year-old male near Cedar Boulevard & Mowry Avenue on suspicion of aggravated assault. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.  
 
10:32 AM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar Boulevard & Cherry Street.
 
3:56 PM Officer Lomeli investigated a residential burglary near Lido Boulevard & Normandy Drive. Various power tools were taken from the garage.
