Suspect arrested in Harrison Street Homicide

On August 26th, officers arrested a 62-year-old man in connection with the recent homicide on Harrison Street.
 
On August 25th at 5:26 pm, officers responded to Ursula Sherman Village (711 Harrison Street) on a report that a person had been shot.  When officers arrived, they found a 37-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.  Despite the life saving measures given by emergency personnel, the man did not survive.
 
During the subsequent investigation, officers determined the identity of the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
 
On August 26th at 10:30 am, officers spotted the suspect parked in his vehicle in the area of Fourth Street and Camelia Street and arrested him without further incident.  When officers searched the suspect’s vehicle, they found several guns as well as ammunition.
 
On August 27th, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged the suspect (Mark Christopher Dowling, Male, 62 years old, no address) with PC 187—Murder. 
 
We will never tolerate violence in our community, and it is an ever-present concern for our Department.  We are grateful for the community’s continued support and thankful that we were able to bring this suspect to justice.
