NEWS RELEASE: Arrests Made for Locust Shootings
Turlock, CA – The Turlock Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) investigated two separate gang-related shootings in the 400 block of Locust Street that occurred just days apart. The shootings resulted in two victims being injured and taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds. SIU investigators quickly got to work and were able to identify those involved in the shooting.
On August 1, 2024, with the assistance of the Mountain View Police Department’s SWAT team, a search warrant was executed at an address in Mountain View, CA. Investigators located and arrested Edgar Mendoza-Montejano, a 19-year-old from Mountain View, in connection with the first shooting that occurred on July 22, 2024. Mendoza-Montejano was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on attempted murder charges.
On the morning of August 21, 2024, the Turlock SWAT team, supported by Ceres SWAT and the Merced County Sheriff’s SWAT teams, conducted search warrants in the 600 block of Chestnut Street in Turlock, CA, and at an address in Winton, CA, in connection with the July 28, 2024 shooting. Two male juveniles were arrested and booked into Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall; one for conspiracy and being a juvenile in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and the other for attempted murder. Firearms located at one of the residences have been seized for evidence.
