TEANECK PUBLIC LIBRARY CLOSING FOR RENOVATIONS - AUGUST 29th is the Last Day of Normal Operations

A Message from the Library Director:

The Library is embarking on a much anticipated renovation journey.

Since its last renovation in 1979, our Library has faithfully served our community for over 40 years as is. However, as times change, so do our needs. The materials and services we provide have evolved, yet our layout has remained static. It’s time for a refresh. After the renovation, you can look forward to convenient upgrades, such as a main floor bathroom – no more trekking downstairs! Additionally, we’re thrilled to announce the introduction of a designated Teen area, enriching the library experience for all patrons, especially our teenage community.

We understand that adjusting to these changes may pose challenges for our heavily reliant community. The potential closure of the Library for 9-12 months is no small matter. Rest assured, we’re diligently working to devise the best possible temporary operations plan. Our goal is to ensure continuity of core services during this renovation.

Closing Timeline

As the closing date approaches, there will be adjustments to library services in August:

• August 16: All Teaneck collections will be moved to storage. Walk-in patrons can still check out items.
• August 21: Teaneck will be removed as a pickup location. Please select other BCCLS libraries for your requests. Available holds placed before August 21 should arrive within 2-3 days and should ideally be picked up by August 30.
• August 29: This will be the last day of normal operations. The exterior book drop will be closed.
• August 30: The library will close at 1pm. This is the last day to pick up your holds at Teaneck. Any holds not picked up by August 30 will be transferred to the New Milford Library on September 3.

Temporary Operations During Renovation:

While the Teaneck Library is closed, staff will assist residents at the New Milford Library. Patrons are also welcome to use any BCCLS library.
