El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from August 4th – August 10th.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from August 4th – August 10th.
August 4th
Trespass – 1800 block of Elm St.
At 1:09 PM, officers located a suspect in the victim’s basement after letting themselves in from victim’s the back yard. The suspect was escorted off the property and admonished after the victim requested not to press charges.
Tampering With a Vehicle / Assault on a Peace Officer - 11299 San Pablo Ave. (Del Norte Plaza):
At 8:06 PM, officers were dispatched to the area for a suspicious subject. Community members reported the subject was banging on cars and challenging others to fight. Upon arrival, officers contacted the subject and determined there was no crime and asked them to leave the area. While on scene, officers observed the subject open the car door of an occupied vehicle, which scared the occupants. Officers attempted to arrest and the subject and the subject resisted arrest and grabbed an officer’s holstered firearm. The subject was taken into custody, booked at the EL Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave. / Lincoln Ave.
At 2:13 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During a DUI investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation to a sober friend.
August 5th
Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24 Hour Fitness):
Between the hours of 2:52 PM - 3:25 PM, a locker in the women’s locker room was broken into and the victim’s property stolen.
Stolen Vehicle - 2700 Block of Yuba Ave.
At 12:37 AM, an officer reports three suspects stole the victim’s vehicle.
August 6th
Stolen Vehicle / Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 6500 Block of Hill St.
At 8:38 AM, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle. At 12:21 PM, officers located the reported stolen vehicle unoccupied in the city. The owner was notified and arrived to take ownership of the vehicle.
August 7th
Commercial Burglary – 5395 Potrero Ave. (Lineage Church):
At 7:24 AM, officers responded to a report of a burglary within the church. During the investigation, there was no loss reported.
Grand Theft – 5400 Block of Barrett Ave.
At 10:47 AM, officers responded to the area for a report of copper wire theft.
Stolen Vehicle – 10100 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 3:45 PM, the victim reported their vehicle stolen.
Commercial Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24 Fitness):
At 6:34 PM, the victim reported their locker was broken into and the victim’s property stolen.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. /Eastshore Blvd.
At 4:22 AM, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, the officer found the passenger to have an outstanding warrant for their arrest. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
August 8th
Grand Theft – 3200 Block of Yosemite Ave.
At 12:05 PM, the victim reported the theft of their catalytic converter sometime overnight.
August 9th
Grand Theft – 5600 block of Ludwig Ave.
At 1:00 PM, an officer reports theft of a catalytic converter sometime overnight.
Warrant Arrest - 1100 Block of Liberty St.
At 9:40 PM, an officer arrested a subject who had an active warrant. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave. / Cutting Blvd.
At 1:37 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released on a citation to a sober relative.
Driving Under the Influence - 300 Block of Coronado Ave.
At 5:21 AM, officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the area. While an officer was responding to the area, officers located the suspect’s vehicle several blocks away. Officers conducted an enforcement stop and contacted the driver. Officers smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the driver and found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. During the investigation, officers discovered the driver had crashed into a house and fled the scene. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released on a citation to a sober friend.
August 10th
Petty Theft – 11760 San Pablo Ave.
At 11:00 AM, an officer took a report of a stolen rear plate that occurred sometime between 08/07/2024 at 7:20 PM - 08/08/2024 at 8:54 AM.
Petty Theft – 6400 block of Schmidt Ln.
At 4:30 PM, a suspect stole four packages from a delivery van while the driver was making a delivery.
Driving Under the Influence - S56th St. / Potrero Ave.
At 3:45 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. The subject was arrested and booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. During the booking process, the driver complained of an injury from a previous condition. An ambulance arrived and the subject was released to medics on a citation.
