As online shopping continues to grow in popularity, the risk of package theft unfortunately increases. The Haledon Police Department encourages residents to adopt the following precautions to ensure the safety of their deliveries:
1. Use Secure Delivery Options: We recommend utilizing secure delivery services. As a reminder, courtesy of Mayor Michael Johnson and the Haledon Municipal Council, Haledon offers a FREE Amazon Locker, named "Balaclava," located at the Haledon Municipal Complex. This secure Amazon Locker provides residents with a reliable option to collect their Amazon packages. "Balaclava" is conveniently situated on the first floor of the complex, adjacent to the elevator, ensuring a user-friendly experience for all patrons.
2. Schedule Deliveries Wisely: Plan for deliveries to occur when you are at home. If possible, consider having packages sent to your workplace or to the address of a trusted neighbor. Additionally, you may want to require a signature for valuable deliveries.
3. Track Your Packages: Make use of tracking information provided by delivery services to monitor the status of your packages.
4. Install Security Cameras: Installing security cameras or smart doorbells can help you keep an eye on your front porch and serve as a deterrent to potential thieves.
5. Report Suspicious Activity: If you observe any suspicious individuals or activities in your neighborhood, please contact the Haledon Police Department at 973-790-4444. For emergencies, you may also dial 911. You may also report concerns via email at [email protected].
