Vacaville Man Pronounced Deceased After Vehicle vs Pedestrian Traffic Collision in Rancho Cucamonga



DATE/TIME: August 28, 2024 / 8:40 PM

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Foothill Boulevard / Pacific Electric Trail

Driver: Davon Metoyer 19-year-old male from Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Pedestrian/Decedent: Roberto Pineda 48-year-old male from Vacaville, California.

SUMMARY:

On August 28, 2024, at about 8:40 PM, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Foothill Boulevard near the Pacific Electric Trail crossing. 

A Hyundai Elantra, driven by Davon Metoyer, traveled west on Foothill Boulevard in the number two lane approaching Baker Avenue. As Metoyer passed the Pacific Electric Trail crossing, his vehicle collided into Pineda, who was crossing the roadway. Despite life-saving efforts by American Medical Response (AMR) and the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District, Pineda was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Deputies M. McDonald and M. Wong from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
