OPD News:
Outstanding police work by officers assigned to the Oakland Police Department's (OPD) Special Resource Section (SRS) East led to the recovery of multiple loaded firearms, including an AK-47 and an AR-15, both high-capacity rifles.
On August 28, 2024, SRS East Officers were patrolling the area of 71st Avenue and Hamilton Street when they saw an individual running from a group, attempting to conceal what appeared to be a rifle. Although the individual had left the area, when officers arrived, they recovered four firearms that were left behind.
Thanks to the swift and decisive actions of our officers, these dangerous weapons were removed from the streets, potentially saving lives.
