Investigation – 2500 block of Jessup Street: 
Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on September 2.
On September 2 at approximately 3:30 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2500 block of Jessup Street in reference to a motor vehicle collision involving a dirt bike and a vehicle.
Upon arrival, police located the operator of the dirt bike – Zyair Carter, 28 – who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene, and two occupants reported minor injuries.
The case was assigned to Master Corporal Paul Simonds of the WPD Special Operations Division/Traffic Unit. The preliminary investigation found that the operator of the dirt bike was traveling at a high rate of speed and disregarded a stop sign, at which time the dirt bike collided with the other vehicle.
