Proactive Policing Leads to Another Firearm Related Arrest
Proactive traffic enforcement stop leads to drug and firearm arrest.
San Mateo, CA – On September 2, 2024, at 11:25 p.m., a proactive traffic enforcement stop led to the arrest of Sebastian Flores-Lavine for possession of a loaded pistol and possession of narcotics.
An SMPD officer was working patrol and saw a driver of a Honda Accord fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Monte Diablo Avenue and North Bayshore Boulevard. The officer made a traffic stop of the vehicle and spoke to the driver, Sebastian Flores-Lavine, and a passenger of the car. A records check of Flores-Lavine revealed he had a suspended driver license and a convicted felon. During the traffic stop, officers were made aware that illegal narcotics were inside the car.
Officers with the help of a canine officer, searched the vehicle and found narcotics and a loaded unregistered Glock pistol. Flores-Lavine was arrested for multiple firearm related charges and possession of a controlled substance. Flores-Lavine was transported and booked into San Mateo County Jail.

11370.1(a) HS- Possess controlled substance while armed with firearm, 29800(a)(1) PC- Felon possessing a firearm, 30305(a)(1) PC- Prohibited person possessing ammunition, 25400(a)(1) PC- Carry concealed weapon in vehicle, 11350(a) HS- possess controlled substance, 14601.2(a) VC- Drive with a suspended license.
