DEU detectives initiated an investigation into the location, focusing on potential drug-related activities. Using a variety of law enforcement techniques, detectives identified Alexis Beeker and Jeremy Ochsenreither as individuals involved in the sale, organization, and distribution of controlled substances. On August 28, 2024, DEU detectives apprehended Beeker and Ochsenreither in Thousand Oaks. Following their arrest, detectives executed a search warrant at their residence. The investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately one ounce of Fentanyl and other controlled substances. Additionally, David Lapides, present at the scene, was arrested for possession of controlled substances. Beeker and Ochsenreither were charged with possession of controlled substances for sale, transportation for sale of controlled substances, and conspiracy. They were subsequently booked into the Pretrial Detention Facility in Ventura, California. DEU is comprised of eight detectives, who focus on protecting East County communities by actively investigating illegal activities. If you have any information about illegal activity in the East County areas in the Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction, please contact Senior Deputy Jonathan San Jose at 805-371-8388. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid. Originally developed for pain management in medical settings, particularly for cancer patients, it has become a major contributor to the opioid crisis due to its high potency and widespread misuse. Illegally manufactured Fentanyl is often mixed with other drugs, like heroin or cocaine, which dramatically increases the risk of overdose, as even a tiny amount can be lethal.
