ONE ARRESTED AND TWENTY CITED AT SIMI VALLEY DUI CHECKPOINT
Simi Valley, Calif. – On Saturday, August 31, 2024, one person was arrested for drug possession and twenty individuals cited for various vehicle code violations to include driving with suspended/revoked license or without a license, driving without headlights on during darkness, and violating the provisions of the driver’s license at a DUI checkpoint on August 31, 2024.
The DUI checkpoint was held at First Street and Easy Street from 7:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
Seventeen drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license, 1,136 vehicles were contacted. One driver was arrested for other criminal charges (Possession of Fentanyl).
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
