Reminder: Commercial E-bike delivery riders must register with the City

If you use an electric bike (e-bike) or scooter for commercial delivery services within Hoboken, don’t forget to register and get your license from the City!

How to get your license:

  • Make an appointment: Reserve a timeslot and stop by the Parking Utility service window at Hoboken City Hall (94 Washington St.) to complete a quick application form.
  • Take a short quiz: Pass a brief, five-question test with a score of 80 percent or better either in person or online by CLICKING HERE.
  • Pay a small fee: Submit a $5 registration fee.
Once you’ve passed the test and paid the fee, you’ll receive a high-visibility yellow vest and a numbered license. These licenses are valid for two years and can be renewed with the Department of Transportation & Parking. Be sure to wear your vest and carry your license whenever you’re making deliveries on an e-bike or scooter!

Please note: A fine of up to $50 may be issued for not wearing the vest while delivering, and after three offenses, a notice will be sent to your delivery company.

Delivery riders are also reminded to not ride on sidewalks and to please follow all rules of the road including obeying traffic lights and signage.
