Man Arrested on U.S. Route 30 Following Foot Chase, Firearm Recovered
On September 4, 2024 at 1:00 PM, officers working a traffic enforcement detail on U.S. Route 30 conducted a stop on a male individual for improperly crossing the highway. During the stop, the male provided false information to officers in an attempt to avoid receiving a summons.
Once officers determined that the male had given false information, they attempted to make an arrest. The male fled on foot, leading officers on a chase. During the pursuit, the male discarded a magazine from a firearm. The individual was eventually apprehended and found to be in possession of a handgun. He was later positively identified as Gregory J. Ganski III, 24, of Williamstown, NJ.
Further investigation revealed that Ganski had multiple outstanding warrants for his arrest. During the pursuit, one Absecon officer sustained a significant injury that required hospitalization.
Ganski was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he faces weapons-related charges and outstanding warrants.
