This morning at about 4 AM, local residents were awakened by a loud bang as members of the Simi Valley Police Department’s SWAT team, Special Enforcement Team (SET) and Detective Bureau, successfully served a high-risk search warrant in the 4400 block of Apricot Rd. The operation, which included the use of a diversionary device, was part of an ongoing investigation into the criminal activities of a local criminal street gang. During the service of the warrant, Simi Valley residents, Jose Orozco (18 yrs.) and Jaimes Govanny (23 yrs.) were safely taken into custody and will be booked at the Ventura County Jail on various weapons charges. During the service of the search warrant, several firearms were seized including a firearm suppressor, which is commonly referred to as a “silencer.”
 
The Simi Valley Police Department’s SET team is an entity within the Special Enforcement Bureau and was established as a crime suppression unit meant to address various crimes within the City. Those duties include the enforcement of lewd/dissolute conduct in public, Human Trafficking enforcement, ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) enforcement investigations and assessment, the enforcement of street-level narcotics, warrant service on wanted individuals and gang enforcement.
