Police Pedestrian Safety Pop-Up and CAPS on Sept. 10; Residents invited to 9/11 Memorial Service

Hoboken to host annual September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service

The public is invited to attend the City of Hoboken’s annual September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service on Wednesday, Sept.11, at 5 p.m. in Pier A Park.

The ceremony will take place next to the City's 9/11 Memorial, in the northwest section of the park. The memorial, which is aligned in the direction of the World Trade Center site, includes a steel beam base with a glass panel for each of the 56 Hoboken residents lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and it is located within a grove of ginkgo trees which are also aligned with the World Trade Center.

Members of the Hoboken Clergy Coalition will offer prayers and reflection. The event is free and open to all.

CAPS Reminder

The next Hoboken CAPS meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024 at Onieals, 343 Park Ave. from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

CAPS, or Community And Public Safety, gives residents the opportunity to engage with Hoboken public safety officials, including representatives of Hoboken Police, Hoboken Fire, Hoboken Office of Emergency Management, Hoboken EMS and Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and the Hoboken Health Division.

Light refreshments will be served.

Hoboken PD hosts Pop Up Pedestrian Safety Engagement Event

Also on Sept. 10,  the Hoboken Police Department will host a pop-up Pedestrian Safety Community Engagement Event from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Church Square Park.

Representatives with HPD's Transportation and Traffic Unit will be available to discuss various issues related to pedestrian and traffic safety in Hoboken. All residents are welcome to stop by for conversations, to ask questions, and present concerns. Feedback gathered at this event will help the HPD plan for future public safety improvement initiatives.

The pop-up tent will be near the Park Avenue and Fourth Street entrance, on the south side of the park, across from Onieals.
