FFWABQ The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a
* Flash Flood Warning for... South Central Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico...
* Until 500 PM MDT.
* At 219 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain moving southeast across the warned area. Up to 1.75 inches of rain have fallen in the high terrain above Canones, Medanales, Chili, and Hernandez. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. This water will flow down Canones Creek, Rio del Oso, and Arroyo del Ojitos. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Chili. This includes Highway 285 near Mile Marker 337.

Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
