Public Notice
The City of Sonora, along with the Sonora Police Department, has received complaints regarding individuals entering trash dumpsters and removing discarded items. In some cases, individuals have been found inside dumpsters, which has startled local citizens.
This practice is not only unsanitary but also extremely hazardous, particularly if a trash truck picks up a dumpster while someone is inside. The City of Sonora has a City Ordinance in place that prohibits entering or disturbing items in sanitation containers.

Sec. 82-36 – Sanitation container system
(e) It shall be unlawful for any person to disturb a sanitation container furnished by the city or the contents thereof; however, this subsection shall not apply to the duly authorized employees of the city, in the course of their duties.
